Ocean Wisdom: Life Lessons from the Gulf of Mexico
The tide doesn't ALWAYS come it.....
Much like in life and business, there are seasons where tides come in and tides go out. There is an ebb and flow.
And much like the softest sands are often where there has been a lot of polishing. - Don't bemoan the seasons of 'polish' in your life.... those seasons where life might be harder, or you may not achieve what you wanted to in the timeline you wanted to - these are the foundations of your success in - the - making, and they'll keep you from getting too full of yourself in the journey!

Hey, hey, so good morning friends. It's Kimberly here and, gosh, it's a beautiful morning here. This is off the Gulf of Mexico, in Boca Grande, at the Gasparilla Inn, and it's just beautiful. So I love, I have really enjoyed. Of course, I always enjoy the learning atmosphere when you're with really truly just good people who have a skill set and a passion for doing good things, and when they come together it's magical getting out in moonlit swims. The water is so warm down this far south and my morning qigong in the waves, and it hit me today with a wave that if you watch the ocean, you know the tide doesn't always come in. Right Matter of fact, the tide cannot come in until it goes out. Likewise, it can't go out until it's come in.
Speaker 1:So it's kind of interesting when you think about that in our personal development and in our businesses. It's not static. Now you can spend your time in the pool. So I have to be honest, I haven't spent any time in the pool. So I have to be honest, I haven't spent any time in the pool here, because why in the world would you want the pool? And we can have this. That's just my personal bias. But the pool is lovely, but you could stay in the pool Right, the pool is very predictable.
Speaker 1:You can be in the deep end, if that's what you want, or you can be in the shallow end. It's deep end if that's what you want, or you can be in the shallow end, it's completely up to you. But it's predictable and it's even, uh, when you walk along, uh, the sand in the ocean. There are some spots where the sand is really smooth and soft, it feels good on your feet and there's, my feet are kind of beat up and there's some spots where it's a little rougher right, and it's kind of like that. And you can be in the ocean and sometimes you're in waist high and then sometimes it's up to your shoulders and you haven't really moved. And it's kind of like that in life, right, it's kind of that. It's predictably unpredictable and it's always changing Tides coming in and tides going out unpredictable, and it's always changing Tides coming in and tides going out. You know, the sand is only smooth and feels nice on your feet because it's been beat up right, it's been eroded to the point that then it becomes soft. And life has kind of a polishing effect. Business failures, mistakes have a polishing effect.
Speaker 1:So I think that there's a lot of lessons that we can learn from the ocean, besides the fact that I think it's really nascently renewing and restorative. But there's so many lessons that we can learn. If we're looking for the lessons, they're there, and I think the ocean is full of them. Um, and today, in my morning exercise here, as the sun came up, I that concept really came to me that you know we need to. I think there's a great value in being open to letting yourself get beat up a little bit, and as we do that, we become polished, we become refined, and not only that, but the sand becomes a little softer for those who are coming behind us, those who are coming alongside of us.
Speaker 1:That you know, we're not all at the same. The ocean isn't even right, the sand isn't even. Some places are shallow and then it's all of a sudden, uh, dips off and it's very deep. All of us are in different places and we can we can truly help each other. That means that we're seeking out people who are farther along the path than we are, people who are smarter. I love being in a room full of smart people and this week, oh my gosh, sitting with people that I really truly admire and respect, and just being able to listen in on their conversations is really a great honor. Anyway, take some lessons from the ocean today. I hope you have a wonderful rest of your week, my friends.
